Update: Truck is gone :o( I'll have to get another one, this is bullshit...
The rear brakes on this thing are huge. Had to take a few pics. Not a bad job overall, plenty of room to work...
Next to a full size 1/2" breaker bar for perspective...
Decided it was time to replace the broken exhaust that came with the truck so I could get a sticker. Summit offers 4" Turbo backs for about 300 bucks. Went to the site and found two products for my truck, with the same exact description, but one was 299, the other 399. Decided to order the expensive one just because I know my luck. Well, when I opened the box I found out why it was 100 dollars more. Its 5 inch.
Here's a pic next to the FULL 3" downpipe from the 2G (mates to a O2 housing with 3" flange).
Here is a shot of the better part of the kit. Looks like sewer pipe... The turbo outlet flange is 3", the downpipe is 4" to clear the frame and bellhousing, then expands to 5"
5" Straight through muffler.
Here is a shot of one of the 5" exhaust clamps. Thats a gallon container of windshield washer fluid that it almost fits around...
The exhaust installed easily enough, there is a lot of room under the body. The aftermarket exhaust that came with the truck seems to have replaced the stock rear hangers so I can't yet mount the tail pipe. I'll have to rig something up. The sound is extremely deep, but not nearly as loud as I expected it to be. Typical turbo motor. It does however sound like any other turbo car with an open downpipe. The turbine wheel is extremely loud. When coming back to idle it takes a minute for the turbo to wind down. Also, after shutting off the motor, you can hear the turbo for a good 30 seconds. Just cruising along it sounds mean. All in all I'm glad I "accidentally" ordered this exhaust. If I had known summit offered a 5" for that price, I'd have ordered it anyway :o)
