Update: Thanks to a year and a half worth of wear on the muffler, and some harassment from the cops, I've made the exhaust a little quieter. I put a Dynomax Bullet Race muffler in the DP as a presilencer. Better than restrictive louvered core resonators, its 3" perforated tube all the way through. 4" total diameter means it will fit anywhere that you have 1/2" clearance to the car. 30-35 bucks from summit.
The exhaust is much quieter now. Deeper, more pleasant tone, and still lumpy at idle. But quieter. Less noise in the car as well.
Some of the parts required, just missing flanges, clamps, hangers, and a length of 3" tubing from a local muffler shop.
3" center Inlet/Outlet, 6x12" can, Dynomax Ultraflow Welded.
A little cutting, the hard way... Nearly set the Fro on fire.
RRE 2g 3" "long" Downpipe vs. 2.5" Buschur press-bent.
A little remodeler's remorse half way through...
Running the intermediate pipe back from the DP.
A pair of 45 degree bends, with one band clamp for adjustability.
The second 45 degree bend doubles as the stealth exhaust tip.
Cheap, and simple. Even in mild steel, this exhaust is still running strong on another 2g almost 4 years later.
